Summer tends to bring about a lot of things that people look forward to… vacations, summer concerts, county fairs and a lot more. But one thing that is always inevitable to come along with summer is the heat. This summer is just beginning, but things are truly starting to heat up for those of us here in California. This has been the hottest week yet, and summer is just beginning. Although California is known for good weather and some hot days, the days ahead of us this week are going to be some of the hottest days we will see. So, there are some key things that you can do to serve as a precaution to take so you will be able to avoid the heat and things that you should be aware of when dealing with hot days like the ones that are ahead of us.

Although heat is unbearable at times in California it also hard on your body, bills and our moods. There are some key things that you can do to help you stay cool, that will allow you to avoid a heat stroke and that will allow you to have a nice summer while taking care of yourself.

  1. Drink more water. It is extremely important for you to stay hydrated at all times, but especially during the summer. When you find yourself sweating more often than you normally do, drinking water is so important. You have to remain hydrated during the summer and the most beneficial way for you to do this is drinking water… while there are other things you can drink to stay hydrated, water is the most accessible and it's free.

  2. Run a fan and an air conditioner at the same time. If you have your air conditioner running at a lower power and have a fan running at the same time. The air conditioner will take the humidity out of the home and the fan will help you stay cooler… so if you can, sit in front of the fan directly.

  3. Eat cool food and try not to use your oven. If you can, try to consume foods that are cooler… things like cold soups, salads, sandwiches and things like this are great choices for you to enjoy that are cool. If you don't have to use your oven it makes it better for you; the oven will only add heat to your home and it will be harder to cool it back down. Looking up no-cook and oven-free recipes will be a great help for you to have good food all while keeping things cool.

  4. Enjoy cool activities. Summer is a great time to do fun things that you thoroughly enjoy. This would be a great time to go to a water park. Not only will you be able to have fun, but you will also be able to stay cool by enjoying the water rides, waterfalls, and other aqua influenced things that you'll find there. Although you will be in water and that's also a great way for you to stay cool, remember to drink a lot of water while you're there… you'll still be in the sun.

These are some great and easy ways for you to beat the drastic summer heat that is coming to California this week. Remember that staying cool and hydrated are extremely important. You want to avoid any medical conditions that can be brought on by the heat and you definitely want to stay away from the emergency room if you can help it at all.
