The Start Of the First Aid Vending Machine
August 19, 2016 – Bold Apps
At some point in time or another, just about everyone has had to turn to a first aid kit to get the supplies they need to heal a cut, bruise, scrape or other injury. This is especially true when you have children in the home. First aid supplies are a must. But, what happens when you are out and about and don't have your first aid kit with you? Instead of having to worry about where you are going to get the first aid supplies you need in a pinch, you can turn to this amazing first aid vending machine.
The machine was created by a 14-year-old out of Alabama. It originally started out as an eighth-grade class project. However, this amazing concept could end up turning into a multi-million-dollar company before he knows it. High school freshman Taylor Rosenthal was inspired to create this ingenious machine out of all the time he spent playing baseball and encountering his own share of bumps and bruises along the way. He said it always seemed like no one could ever find a Band-Aid when someone was injured.
The Young Entrepreneurs Academy is a program that is designed for students who are interested in learning how to start a small business of their own. The program asked the students in Taylor's class to come up with a few ideas for what they thought would make a great company. Since his parents both work in the medical field as an x-ray technician and a sports medicine trainer respectively, they were more than happy to help him come up with the idea for his vending machine, which is affectionately named RecMed.
His pitch for RecMed ended up winning first place out of his entire class. This ended up getting him the start-up funding he needed from Roundhouse to come up with a sales pitch for the regional competition down in Boca Raton, Florida. His pitch ended up landing him in third place last year.
Taylor's sales pitch was extremely effective and focused on the needs of parents and children everywhere. These machines would make a great tool for amusement park owners, sports stadiums, schools and any number of other locations around the United States.
The machines are really taking off. He earned $100,000 in investments and turned down an offer of $30 million for his idea already. Consumers will soon be able to purchase a first aid package to treat sunburns, cuts, bee stings and much more all from one single machine. Countless machines have already been ordered and more talks are underway. This teenager definitely has built something amazing out of an ingenious concept that many never even thought to bring into existence. It will be amazing to see just how many of these machines will end up popping up around the country.
